UTAR Kampar Buddhist Society Short-term Ordination & Meditation Retreat

End of the Rains Retreat • A Time for Diligent Practice

One Day in Robes, A Lifetime of Benefit;

A Few Days of Meditation, A Lifetime of Inner Wealth.

“Purifying the Mind, Cultivating Wisdom, Walking the Path to Liberation”

As the annual TheraVāda Buddhist Rains Retreat (Vassa) draws to a close, it marks a precious opportunity for practitioners to deepen wholesome qualities, draw near to the Saṅgha, and accumulate the requisites for liberation.

To provide an opportunity for those aspiring to study and practise the Buddha’s teachings, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Kampar Buddhist Society (Organizer) and DhammaJāta Arañña Meditation Society (Co-organizer) will be organizing the following programmes beginning on 6th (Tue) October 2026:

🪷 Short-Term Ordination Program

🪷 Intensive Meditation Retreat

🪷 Series of Dhamma CoursesMaṅgala Sutta

🪷 Merit-Making and Wisdom Cultivation (Dasa Kiriya Vatthu)

University and college students, devoted supporters, and members of the public are warmly invited to participate.

In today’s busy and distracting world, people are often pulled in many directions by work, studies, information overload, and worldly desires. As a result, the mind becomes restless and burdened. Through short-term ordination and intensive meditation practice, participants will have the opportunity to temporarily set aside worldly concerns, embrace a simple and disciplined way of life, and train in the Buddha’s teachings of morality (Sīla), concentration (Samādhi), and wisdom (Paññā).

Under the guidance of the Saṅgha, participants will learn to:

️ Cultivate mindfulness and law of Kamma

️ Associate with wise spiritual friends and the virtuous Saṅgha

️ Develop loving-kindness, compassion, and wisdom

️ Strengthen concentration and inner awareness

️ Experience the practical benefits of the Dhamma

Short-term ordination is not merely a retreat from worldly life; it is an opportunity for profound inner transformation. Intensive meditation is not merely a period of temporary calm; it is a valuable condition for the arising of wisdom and progress towards liberation.

The Buddha taught:

Hard it is to gain human birth;

Hard is the life of mortals;

Hard it is to hear the True Dhamma;

Rare indeed is the arising of a Buddha.”

Dhammapada, Buddha Vagga Verse 182

Having the opportunity to approach the Triple Gem and practise the Noble Dhamma is truly rare and precious. Therefore, let us treasure this exceptional opportunity and plant the wholesome seeds of merit and wisdom for the welfare and happiness of this life and future lives.

May all who participate:

Purify body and mind

Increase merit and wisdom

Abandon defilements and cultivate wholesome qualities

Accumulate the requisites for liberation

Progress towards ultimate peace and happiness

We warmly welcome all who wish to join us in practising diligently, growing in the Dhamma, and discovering the light of wisdom through meditation.

May the merits accrued be shared with all beings.

May all attain the peace of Nibbāna.

️ Buddha Sāsanaṃ Ciraṃ Tiṭṭhatu.

May the Buddha's Dispensation be Prolonged.

🙏 "Sabbe Sattā Bhavantu Sukhitattā."

May all beings be Well & Happy.
