About This Journey

Guiding Youth · Cultivating Merit & Wisdom
SPM & STPM Examination Blessing Students' Practice
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Sibu

🙏 In November 23rd (Sunday),2025 Sibu Buddhist Association welcomed a special group of visitors —SPM and STPM students from above schools students and teachers. They gathered before their exams to cultivate blessings and wisdom, nourishing body and mind with the Dhamma, and illuminating their future with wholesome deeds.

Young people who learn the Dhamma are the most blessed.
Students who cultivate merit and wisdom before their exams are the wisest.

I. Practice Activities
The event was rich in content, with a clear progression:
📿 Observing the Five Precepts — Taking the precepts as the teacher, purifying body and mind, laying the foundation for life
📖 Chanting & Blessings — Purifying the mind with sacred sounds, connecting with the Triple Gem through devotion
🪔 Lamp Offering — Lighting the lamp of wisdom, dispelling the darkness of ignorance, illuminating the path ahead
🧘 Meditation — Cultivating concentration in stillness, abiding in the present moment with awareness
📚 Dhamma Sharing — Sharing wisdom from the Dhammapada, guiding youth to face exams and life with mindfulness
🍚 Offering to the Sangha — Planting wholesome roots, accumulating merit for a smooth path ahead
🙏 Dedication of Merits — Sharing the wholesome deeds with all beings, wishing well-being for ourselves and others

This practice was not merely about seeking blessings — it was an opportunity for youth to experience the power of the Dhamma in action: peace of mind, strong faith, and vast aspirations.

II. Dhammapada Reflections
"Not a mother, nor a father, nor any other relative can do more for the well-being of one than a rightly-directed mind can."
— Dhammapada, Verse 43

Reflection: Parents, teachers, and loved ones can all offer support — but the one who truly determines the direction of life is one's own mind, oriented toward wholesomeness. Cultivating merit before exams is an act of transforming kamma with a virtuous mind, and opening the future with mindfulness.

"If a man does what is good, he should do it again and again; he should take delight in it; the accumulation of merit leads to happiness."
— Dhammapada, Verse 118

Reflection: Wholesome deeds are not a one-off occurrence but repeated cultivation, sustained practice, and continuous accumulation. May all students maintain this wholesome heart, continue to plant good causes, and walk forward with joy and happiness.

III. Gratitude
We express our gratitude to:
Sibu Buddhist Association — for providing a pure Dhamma venue, making this auspicious gathering possible
The teachers — for guiding students to draw near to the Triple Gem and plant wholesome roots
All volunteers — for their silent dedication in making this event a success
All students — for participating with sincere faith, leaving a chapter of goodness in their youth

IV. Blessings for the Students
May the merits of this practice become the lamp in your examination hall and the provision for your life journey.

May you:
🕊️ Walk with a mind directed toward goodness
📿 Grow in merit and wisdom, and succeed in your exams
🙏 Have a bright future and become pillars of society
