🙏 On August 26 (Tuesday), 2025, elders of the Johor Muar Pusat Jagaan Orang Tua Mak Swee, Johor gathered to cultivate the Ten Meritorious Deeds, nurturing elders minds with Dhamma wisdom and illuminating their lives with wholesome deeds.
The wisdom of the Buddha is not only for adults — it is one of the most precious gifts a elders can receive. When elders learn to give, observe precepts, meditate, show reverence, serve others, rejoice in others' merits, share merits, listen to Dhamma, teach Dhamma, and uphold right views, they plant seeds not only for themselves but also for their families, society, and the nation.
I. The Meaning of Wholesome Deeds for Elders
Wholesome deeds are a elders 's greatest wealth.
The Buddha taught in the Dhammapada:
"Not a mother, nor a father, nor any other relative can do more for the well-being of one than a rightly-directed mind can."
The best gift children can give is not wealth or status, but a heart inclined toward goodness and wisdom.
Through the Ten Meritorious Deeds, elder learn to:

"When more people practice the Ten Wholesome Deeds, society will become fair, just, harmonious, and kind, with fewer violations of law and social conflicts."
The future leaders of our nation are not far away — they are in today's classrooms. When elder in nursing home:
📿 Observe the Five Precepts — refraining from killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, false speech, and intoxicants
📖 Chant and learn Dhamma — purifying the mind with sacred sounds, cultivating mindfulness
🧘 Practice meditation — growing in stillness and awareness

They become not only better individuals but also:
